Starting is pretty simple; have a little look
in the yellow pages for a RYA windsurfing centre near you.
Contact them and find out if they do a RYA level 1 course. Better
still would be if they run a free windsurfing taster scheme. Some
centres do this and it is by far the best way of trying the sport
out. However it is worth remembering that to have the most fun
you need to at least have mastered the basic techniques. This is
what putts most people off the sport at first. You will find
yourself in the water more that on the board for your first
lesson. This is just a natural progression and happens to the
best of us (remember even the professionals fall off sometimes).
Try to think of falling off as a laugh, just like harbour
jumping.
After making the booking make sure you know exactly what you need
to take to your lesson (usually a pair of old trainers and a
towel). And always remember to have fun.
